Remember- if you both love each other a lot and show it then nothing will come between you two. Just keep in touch- e-mail, phone, etc. And, say nice things to him :)

From my own experience Id say it wont work. My ex also left holland to study in america, it went okay at first, he came back in holidays and everything, but it wasnt quite the same a it used too. he made other friends there and i suddenly had a hectic social life and slowly we just grew apart.

But you know for me it didnt work, but a friend of mine is in a ldr for like 2years now, and next year when she turns 21 she will move to australia and move in with him.

You just gotta have faith, trust and if u guys truly love eachother itll turn out okay, dont worry!

thanks girls. i really dont know what to think now. it's just that it would take years before we could be together again. i guess i should have a little faith in our relationship and really try to work things out.

LDR's do not work almost all the time. You may find some rare couples that have lasted but it's probably because they've gotten older and were finally able to become independent. For example, that 21-year old previously noted, she's obviously able to decide for herself whether she wants to continue her life with that person and throughout their relationship, they probably spoke freely about what could happen and what they would do in certain situations. At a young age, there's no reason to tie yourself up with someone you may not be able to trust while they are away for so long--remember, you're not there and you don't have eyes in a different country. I speak from experience and I hope that you don't feel discouraged, but I also don't want you to end up wasting your precious time. Love is just love, but falling in love only happens once.
